Do you ever feel like there’s an era that you “belong” in?
That’s how I’ve always felt about the late sixties and early seventies. In my angst-y late teenage years (which, yes, were just a few years ago) I felt like I was having an existential crisis and that I should have been born at a totally different time. I was very dramatic.
Luckily, I’ve since come to terms with the fact that who I am has nothing to do with the year when I was born. It isn’t those years specifically that I identify with, but the attitude, and, more particularly, the fashion and music.
A killer icon of this period? Stevie Nicks.
Effortlessly cool but glam at the same time, both her music and her style encapsulates the mood of the time that I love so much: a carefree rock goddess-gypsy.
It totally fits my summery mood to a T, and she’s all over my inspiration board this season.
